According to a recent survey, a group of players on the slot machines were asked to participate in a poll. Out of these players, 21% of the players responded that their playing sessions lasted from one to four hours other than 25% players said that their slotting sessions lasted more than five hours. However, there are a lot of players who confessed to play the slots for money for about 10 to 14 hours at a time. A majority of these players gave the reason that they spend time on the slot sessions since they do not get to visit the casino quite often. But a few players said that they played for longer hours since they were fully engrossed in the game and lost track of time.

The themes and sounds of the casino are planned to make the players lose control in the atmosphere and suspend all realities. They take you to a fantasy world where there are no clocks or windows see. At the time when you sit down to play on the slots, the rotating reels are known to have a hypnotic effect on a few players. This is similar to the phenomenon known as the ‘highway hypnosis’.

The hypnosis symptoms occur in all those slot players who are deprived of proper sleep and nutrition since they spend hours sitting in front of the slots for cash. Instead of keeping a track on the passing lines in the centre, they simply stare at the wheels spinning while performing the same repetitive task of hitting the button. They are lulled in to the hypnotic state that causes them to lose track of time and they are not aware of the surroundings as well. In order to fight the trance, the players must keep their eyes moving around and not stare on the screen of the machine. The players can also schedule breaks after short intervals.
