History of Roulette
Roulette is by far the most popular game in the casinos. Wherever you go, you would always come across a crowd near the roulette tables. However, no one is quite certain about the history of the game. It is believed that the game was born in the early seventeenth century in France and all the credit for its creation is given to a French mathematician. The word roulette is derived from the French word expressing a “tiny wheel”. Many of the historians today also believe that the game was originated in China and was carried over to Europe by the monks who established trade relations with the Chinese. Regardless of where it originated from, the French are given due credit for the game.
Roulette started gaining a lot of attention in the eighteenth century for the reason that it was extremely preferred by the Price Charles who ruled Monaco. Charles introduced the game to the people in his kingdom in order to help them deal with the economic stress exiting those days. Nevertheless, the version of roulette we come across in most of the casinos is the American version of the game and it did not evolve until the late nineteenth century. This version was highly promoted in the gold rush of California and that’s where it became well-accepted.
In the contemporary world, roulette still continues to be the most popular casino games. However, only a few prefer the European wheel over the American wheel when it comes to the winning stakes. Even though the games appear pretty similar, there are minute changed in the rules as well as the payouts. One of the major differences between the two games is the colour of chips used in them. In the European version, the dealer has to use the stick to swipe the chips on the layout whereas in the American version, they simply use their hands to wipe away the chipsets. These cannot be considered major difference and the rules are almost the same.
